How Reload Helps Its Clients Recover from Injuries

Revolutionizing Recovery with Personalized Care and a Growth Mindset

Reload thrives on a simple yet profound philosophy: Our clients are not broken. At Reload, we shatter conventional molds and replace the term ‘patients’ with ‘clients’. This fundamental shift in nomenclature underscores our unwavering belief in treating people as individuals, not as cases or conditions needing repair.

In this article, Dr. Marc Jacobchick, a Physical Therapist here at Reload, writes about what makes Reload so different from traditional healthcare.

Reload’s Comprehensive Client Evaluation

Contrary to the traditional whirlwind doctor’s visit that often lasts a mere five to seven minutes, Reload’s exhaustive evaluation lasts between 90 and 120 minutes. We intentionally carve out this time to invite our clients into an environment where their stories are not just heard, but truly absorbed.

We strive to comprehensively understand our clients ─ their lives, environments, histories, and current experiences. Far beyond the narrow scope of a diagnosis or an injury, we consider their unique stressors and influences.

Our program is far from a cookie-cutter approach. Instead, it is meticulously tailored to the distinctive intricacies of each client’s situation, derived from our in-depth understanding. This approach underpins our commitment to providing effective help.

A Program Based on Science and Good Communication with Clients

Our weeks typically encompass about 30 sessions, translating into roughly 30 client-facing hours. However, the bulk of our work transpires beyond these appointments. We devote a significant chunk of our time to carefully curating our programs and maintaining ongoing, constructive communication with our clients.

Post-evaluation, we equip our clients with videos of recommended exercises. This interactive tool empowers them to understand and tweak these exercises, adjusting the difficulty level as needed. This process places a premium on their comfort and optimal progress.

We have an unyielding commitment to continuous dialogue and feedback. We strive to touch base with our clients a day or two after their sessions to understand their responses. All our work is framed as an experiment; we follow the scientific method, where each session tests a hypothesis, and the client’s response shapes our future strategy.

Understanding the ‘dosage’ of our exercises and our clients’ reactions is an invaluable learning tool. It offers deep insights into what works for our clients and what doesn’t, enabling us to fine-tune our approach continually.

The Reload Difference

At Reload, we distinguish ourselves by upholding two core principles: A holistic and personalized approach to program management, and fostering a team that embraces the growth mindset.

A Complete and Personalized Approach to Program Management

Reload challenges the traditional physical therapy narrative that tends to espouse specific exercises for specific injuries. We recognize that there’s far more nuance to consider. Exercise prescription and dosage are pivotal to achieving the desired results. It’s crucial to understand why exercises are chosen and how they should feel during and after.

Our constant quest for feedback helps us to custom-fit exercises and tweak dosage, creating an approach tailored uniquely for each client. The danger of misunderstanding or misinterpreting exercises is a spiral into worsened pain and a loss of faith in the healing process.

Unfortunately, the lack of faith in one’s own body’s healing abilities can push clients towards more drastic measures, such as surgery or medication. These avenues often lead clients down a daunting rabbit hole, a destination we strive to prevent.

An Expert Team with A Growth Mindset

Reload is home to some of the brightest minds in the industry. If there’s something we don’t know, we eagerly seek to learn, drawing from the wisdom of experts in the field. We espouse a humble, learning attitude.

Our team exudes a growth mindset, continually seeking knowledge and learning new things. Each team member is an expert in their own right, and we capitalize on this by leaning on each other’s strengths and learning from each other.

We also stand by the old adage, ‘Practice what you preach’. All our team members are required to pass the snatch test, a grueling kettlebell certification test that challenges our physical capabilities and helps us feel the process of training for said test. Additionally, we ensure our team participates in courses offered by different experts.

This rigorous training and a commitment to continuous learning are what equip us to deliver a product that meets the high standards we set for our clients. At Reload, we don’t just preach the power of an antifragile mindset ─ we live it.

The Bottom Line

At Reload, we are more than just a recovery center. We are a sanctuary of healing, a stronghold of understanding, and a crucible of relentless learning.

Each client who walks through our doors isn’t just another case to us, but a unique individual with their own story, experiences, and nuances. Our comprehensive evaluation, science-backed approach, and continuous communication underline our commitment to our clients’ recovery journey. Our expert team, with their growth mindset, ensures that we consistently evolve, learn, and hone our methods to deliver the best possible results.

We understand that recovery is more than just physical rehabilitation ─ it’s about regaining faith in one’s own body, understanding personal nuances, and embracing the power of perseverance. At Reload, we don’t merely treat injuries; we help individuals reload their lives with renewed strength, optimism, and resilience.
